@FirstMediaBlossom posted the cutest Christmas ornament you can easily make for your host family.

The best part? It will cost you very little to make this gift, and I am certain your host family will love. Make it very personal and include a picture of you with your host family or just the host kids. This gift will be a memorabilia (special object associated with memorable people or events) your host family will love.

It is also super easy to make.

- Buy the wood slices from Amazon (This one already comes pre-drilled and with a ribbon/rope)

- Print the picture of your choice and cut the picture to fit in the ornament

- Put a layer of mod podge - a special glue used for this type of craft (I recommend getting the Mod Podge brand, instead of a generic one - Link here.)

- Place the picture in the wood with the image facing the mod podge

- Wait for the mod podge to dry

- Once dried, place the entire ornament in the water and rub off all the paper, and let it dry.

- Spread a thin layer of mod podge on top of the picture

- Tie the ribbon and you are done!

The Amazon link I shared above comes with 30 wood slices. You can use the other slides to make an ornament for you to take home, for your friends, or set up an activity with the kids and ask them to paint the wood slices for some additional ornaments you can give your host family or take home (I am sure your host kid(s) has some acrylic paint you can use. If not, here is a cheap set from Amazon). Another idea is to share the cost of the materials with another au pair(s). That will make the cost of the gift even lower.
